The Israeli delegation to the United Nations held the inaugural Israeli Cyber Summit at the U.N. on Tuesday in an effort to set the standard for cross-sector cyber collaboration.
According to a statement from the mission, the event centered on defensive cyber action and featured a discussion among senior executives about “cooperation in order to produce tools to deal with the threats of cyber-attacks on critical civilian infrastructure including hospitals, government offices and more.”
Promoting defensive cyber collaborations between the public and private sectors were discussed by a panel of cyber specialists from the business sector, including representatives from major companies including Microsoft, Rockwell Automation, and JupiterOne.
Israeli National Cyber Directorate (INCD) and Tel Aviv-based Team8 venture organization are partners in the project, which aims to build a large community to discover and address difficult digital security concerns.
Gilad Erdan, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, served as the event’s host. Kemba Eneas Walden, the U.S. Principal Deputy National Cyber Director, Nadav Zafrir, the managing partner and co-founder of Team8, Bernardo Mariano Joaquim Junior, the assistant secretary-general of the United Nations, and Aviram Atzaba, the executive director of international cooperation for the INCD, also spoke. A number of foreign ambassadors to the U.N. attended as well.
