Michelle Obama has announced her new podcast “IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson,” which will debut today, Wednesday, March 12. The acronym IMO summarizes a key concept of the program, namely, “In My Opinion.” The weekly show co-hosted with her brother Craig will address topics such as family, faith and personal relationships, seeking to offer food for thought. The podcast will host conversations with celebrities and experts, including Issa Rae, Keke Palmer, and sociologist Jonathan Haidt. To celebrate the launch, the siblings will record a special live episode at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, on March 13. It will be available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other platforms.
The content promises, according to the creators, to be “an honest and thoughtful exploration of the difficulties that unite us all. There is no one-size-fits-all way to deal with the challenges we may face, whether it’s family, faith or personal relationships, but taking time to open up and talk about these issues can provide hope,” says the former First Lady and author promoted by Oprah’s Book Club. Craig, who is among other things, the executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, adds that their goal is “to invite listeners and foster conversation with the hope that it will spark new ideas, new perspectives, and create the connection we may all need right now.”
The podcast is the third hosted by Michelle Obama and is produced by Higher Ground, the media company founded by her and former President Barack Obama. Her previous shows, “The Michelle Obama Podcast” in 2020 and “Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast” in 2023, similarly offered insights into the way she approaches and understands life. That said, the authors hope to offer fresh perspectives that speak to the current context.
