Caitlyn Jenner, one of the world’s most famous transgender women, has come in the crosshairs of haters because of her support for Donald Trump. A “detail,” which many members of the LGBTQ+ community and beyond have not forgiven the 75-year-old, given also the US president’s very recent executive order that “there are only two genders: male and female.”
Prior to the transition, Jenner, born as Bruce, had been a top Olympic athlete, even winning gold at the Montreal Games in 1976. The biological father of supermodels Kendall and Kylie, among America’s best-known celebrities, he embarked on his gender adjustment journey in 2015, at age 66, taking the name Caitlyn. Since 2016, she has been one of Donald Trump’s most well-known supporters.
After Inauguration Day on Monday, on her own profile X Jenner wrote, “Congratulations Mr. president!.” Her comment triggered a storm of hate against her. Numerous users began calling her by her first name, Bruce, calling her a hypocrite for supporting a man so hostile to her community.
“So Bruce how does it feel now that Trump signed an executive order that there are only two immutable genders, and your gender will need to be reflected accurately,” one person wrote on X, “How’s it feel to be a guy again?”. “You got about half an hour left as ma’am and it’s back to sir for you Bruce”, commented another follower, attaching a photo of Jenner dating back to the mid-1990s, “you are a disgrace to your entire community.”
During the last election, Jenner endorsed the MAGA leader once again, despite the fact that there was friction between the two in the past. In particular, Jenner pointed her finger at Trump when the latter banned transgender people from enlisting in the military. “There are 15,000 patriotic transgender Americans in the US military fighting for all of us. What happened to your promise to fight for them?’, the former Olympic gold medalist wrote at the time.
After the numerous insults she received on Inauguration Day on Monday, Jenner decided to limit comments under her posts to avoid a new wave of gratuitous insults against her.
