Popular actress Suzanne Somers died on Sunday from breast cancer. She was 76.
In addition to her decades of acting, Suzanne was an author, singer, and health advocate. She was best known for her roles as Chrissy Snow on Three’s Company and Carol Foster Lambert on Step by Step.
Chrissy Snow was one of the main characters of the sitcom Three’s Company, which aired from 1977 to 1981. Chrissy was a naive and bubbly blonde who worked as a typist and receptionist for a law firm. The character was so popular that it became Somers’ signature role and she was frequently identified by the same traits.
Chrissy shared an apartment with two other roommates, Janet Wood and Jack Tripper, who pretended to be gay to avoid eviction by their conservative landlord. Chrissy was often the source of comic relief and misunderstandings due to her ditzy personality and lack of common sense.
She was also very loyal and kind-hearted, and loved her family and friends. Chrissy left the show in the fifth season after Somers had a contract dispute with the producers.
Suzanne also wrote several books on topics such as bioidentical hormones, diet, and aging.
She was married to Alan Hamel for 46 years and had one son and one granddaughter.
“Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th,” her representative confirmed in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.
“She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years.”
Her representatives added, “Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family.
Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th.
