A month ago Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at a Las Vegas chapel. Now they went for the big-time wedding for a much more elaborate celebration on Affleck’s giant luxury estate in Georgia. This time, they were surrounded by their friends–A-listers and not– and family, and went all out on celebrating with fireworks, live music, and even a dress code. Breaking the cardinal rule of weddings that only the bride can wear white, Lopez asked that everyone wear white to the bash.
The couple’s relationship started 20 years ago, when Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez first met on the set of the romantic-comedy film Gigli, which starred Affleck as a mobster who falls in love with Lopez’s character. At the time, Lopez was married to backup dancer Cris Judd, but she filed for divorce in 2002. That November, they got engaged but eventually broke up and never made it down the aisle. Since that time there have been multiple divorces for Lopez and a 15 year marriage for Affleck. As Lopez wrote in a newsletter last month when they wed in a Vegas chapel, “We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.”
On Saturday, the wedding events began at the The Perry Lane Hotel in Savannah, Georgia, where most guests were staying before being shuttled to Affleck’s estate.
“Guests were gathering at The Perry Lane Hotel [in Savannah] to head to Jennifer and Ben’s wedding,” the source explained. “Everyone is dressed in white with most women in white dresses and gowns, and most men in white suits, a majority in linen material, but the dress code features a wide variety. Some men are in white shorts and sneakers and there is a female guest in a white fringe leather jacket and sparkly cowboy hat.”
The wedding was officiated by Jay Shetty, a popular life coach, who wore an off-white suit with a bow tie and matching leather dress shoes. Amidst tight security, the guests celebrated the happy event, one commenting, “You can tell how in love they are and how comfortable they are with each other. They can’t wait to continue to celebrate all weekend long with the people they love the most.”
The 53-year-old Lopez has been married 4 times before, while Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018.
