The long-distance clash between President Donald Trump and U.S. music legend Bruce Springsteen, one of the MAGA leader’s most well-known opponents, continues.
Last week, the Boss had harshly criticized Trump during one of his concerts in Manchester, saying that the United States is currently in the hands of a corrupt government and an incompetent president.
Trump’s retort, needless to say, was not long in coming. On his social profiles, the Republican leader had called Springsteen an “overrated” artist, adding: “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, our WORST EVER President”. Trump exclaimed that Springsteen “ought to keep his mouth shut.”
Trump didn’t always feel this way about Springsteen’s music. In 2016, he regularly played “Born in the U.S.A” at his rallies until The Boss loudly and persistently complained and instead openly announced his support for Hillary Clinton, campaigning for her.
After the long-distance spat on Wednesday, the Trump-Springsteen clash was enriched with a new chapter. The president posted a fake video on his social channels in which he is seen aiming a golf ball at the singer who then falls down on the stage.
The video immediately went viral on Truth Social, the MAGA leader’s own platform, receiving over 40 thousand likes, and garnering four thousand comments and nearly ten thousand re-shares.
Springsteen is a longtime supporter of Democratic presidential candidates, and during the last election in 2024 he endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris.
For his part, however, Trump came down hard this week on not only the Boss but also on other celebrities who have espoused the Democratic cause, accusing them of accepting an “illegal contribution” from Harris.
Speculating without any hard facts, Trump rhetorically asked, “How much did Kamala Harris pay Bruce Springsteen for his poor performance during her campaign for president?..Why did he accept that money if he is such a fan of hers? Isn’t that a major and illegal campaign contribution? What about Beyoncé? … And how much went to Oprah, and Bono???”.
Although he said he would open an investigation into the matter, his allegations remain without any basis and it remains typical Trump bluster.
