On Sunday, former U.S. President Joe Biden’s personal office announced that he has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the official statement reads.
The former president and his family would be “evaluating treatments” with his medical team, according to the statement.
While in office, in 2023, Biden had already suffered a common form of skin cancer. He had undergone surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma from his chest. Doctors who followed him at the time confirmed that all the cancerous tissue had been successfully removed.
