As reported by the Washington Post, in recent weeks Elon Musk, the world’s richest man as well as the leader of DOGE, has allocated a large sum of money to several Republican members of Congress who have supported legislation to limit the power of judges or initiate their impeachment.
Musk has “invested” about $144,400 in support of nearly two dozen GOP exponents-the figure was released this week by the Federal Election Commission. The reports reflect only a partial picture of Musk’s political spending in the first three months of 2025. Other entities controlled by the world’s richest man, including his America PAC, are not required to submit data until the end of July.
For weeks, Musk has used X, a social media outlet he owns, to target judges who have ruled against various Trump administration decisions. In his posts, he has often attacked Chief Judge James E. Boasberg of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, who has ruled against the administration in several cases, mainly concerning immigrant deportations, and who is now initiating contempt proceedings against some of its officials.
Musk wrote on X that Boasberg is a “radical activist cosplaying as a judge.” In some cases, the DOGE leader’s donations came just after House members had introduced or passed legislation targeting certain judges.
Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas), for example, filed a motion to impeach Boasberg on March 18 and posted a photo on X, writing that the judge was “guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors, and should be removed from office.” Musk shared Gill’s post on X that same day: records show that 24 hours later, Gill received a $6,600 donation from the world’s richest man.
In total, Musk has contributed just under $7,000 for all 21 House members who have been sponsors or supporters of resolutions to impeach judges who have spoken out against the Trump administration, or to limit their power.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has been the largest political donor in the 2024 election cycle, investing at least $288 million in support of Donald Trump and other Republican candidates. The America PAC led by Elon helped strengthen Trump’s position in the final phase of the election-Musk explained that the super PAC will also give its all in the 2026 midterm elections.
