Five lifeless bodies were found inside a mobile home in Lake Station, Indiana, last Friday afternoon. They all belonged to the same household, three of the victims were girls.
As local media reported, around 2:44 p.m., officers from the Lake Station Police Department were called to the 6700 block of 9th Avenue in the Mansard Du Lac Manufactured Home Community for a checkup, police said. The officers then entered the house after obtaining a search warrant upon finding themselves facing a tragedy.
The victims, 27-year-old Briana Payne, 7-year-old Aurorah Payne, 6-year-old Ava Payne and Alayna Payne who was only 4 years old, had been killed by gunshot wounds, according to autopsy results conducted by the Lake County Coroner’s Office. So far, their deaths have all been ruled homicides by local police who are handling the investigation. Robert Payne, 31, also died of gunshot wounds but it appears that the man committed suicide.
Currently, although autopsy results have been released, the investigation into the tragedy is still ongoing as more details may emerge. The motive for what happened is not yet known, however, officials told local media that they believe it was an “isolated” incident and that there is no threat to the public.
