Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of John F. Kennedy, has returned to social media to condemn the closure of the JFK Library-Museum in Boston, which, according to the institution, is the result of an executive order signed by President Donald Trump. The documentation center, inaugurated in 1979, was forced to suspend activities due to “workforce reduction” measures, resulting in the layoff of nine employees.
Schlossberg, known for his protective stance on the Kennedy family legacy and his outspokenness, used a video posted on the X platform to express his disapproval, warning Americans of the “severe crisis the country is facing.” In his message, in addition to targeting the GOP leader, he also accused entrepreneur Elon Musk of being responsible for sealing off one of the United States’ most important institutions, which celebrates JFK’s political and cultural legacy. He emphasized that it was time for people to speak up and resist what was happening, adding that without libraries, historical achievements such as his grandfather’s moon landing initiative, risk being forgotten.

The closure comes amid federal workforce cuts, affecting various public institutions. The 32-year-old’s reaction joins that of other members of the Kennedy family, with Maria Shriver–daughter of Eunice Kennedy–expressing disbelief at the turn of events. Despite the temporary suspension of services, the Kennedy Library Foundation has vowed to continue supporting the site and its staff.
