Ahead of his now imminent return to the White House, Donald Trump has prepared more than 100 executive orders mostly concerning the future of borders and mass deportations of illegal immigrants, two issues that have been major workhorses of the president-elect during the last campaign.
As revealed by the Associated Press, most of the measures planned by the MAGA leader will become effective as early as January 20, Inauguration Day.
The series of executive orders, which Trump could sign quickly, cover a range of topics–from tightening the U.S.-Mexico border, to energy development, to gender policies in schools, to vaccination requirements. These are all issues that the president-elect himself has addressed many times during his speeches.
According to insiders, although it is not unusual for an incoming leader to promote a series of initiatives from his or her first day in Washington, those planned by Trump and his allies could represent an unprecedented executive blow, as they aim to bypass the legislative machinery of Congress.
Supporters of the MAGA leader expect the latter to undo right away many of the provisions promoted by the Biden administration, replacing them with his own proposals. These will include the completion of the border wall with Mexico and the construction of detention facilities for undocumented immigrants, where they could be housed until they are deported from the country.
According to some Republican senators familiar with Trump’s plans, the future administration is ready to spend about $100 billion to complete its projects. For several insiders, the first to be affected by the new measures will be about 1 million migrants who recently entered the country, were convicted of a variety of crimes or were deemed unfit to remain in the United States.
According to the latest rumors the MAGA leader will try to fulfill the promises he has made in recent months as soon as immediately after the Inauguration Day ceremony that will bring him back to the Oval Office four years after his defeat by Joe Biden in 2020.
