Journalist Olivia Nuzzi filed a petition for a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, journalist Ryan Lizza, about 12 days after news broke of her alleged affair with presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and for which she was temporarily suspended from her post.
In the petition filed in D.C. Supreme Court Nuzzi states, “Over the past several months I have come to realize that Lizza has begun hacking into my devices for the purpose of stalking and surveilling me and to gather materials that could be used as blackmail to intimidate me back into an affair.”
The journalist openly accused her ex-boyfriend of deliberately stealing her personal device and threatening her with sharing her personal and private life materials through the media, disclosing information that would negatively impact her reputation and career.
Lizza denied Nuzzi’s allegations in a statement to the Washington Post, “I am saddened that my ex-girlfriend has resorted to making a series of false allegations against me as a way to divert attention from her personal and professional failures. I emphatically deny these accusations and will defend myself against them vigorously and successfully.”
At a hearing Tuesday, Judge D. C. Superior Court Robert Hildum granted a temporary order of protection, and another hearing was set for Oct. 15.
