Melania Trump in a recent interview, the first in more than two years, accused Democrats and the media of “stoking a toxic atmosphere” that she said contributed to two assassination attempts against her husband, former President Donald Trump. The former first lady spoke of “outrageous violence” directed against the man, echoing her husband’s strategy of consistently blaming his political opponents.
“It is really shocking that all this outrageous violence goes against my husband,” she said during a Q&A with Ainsley Earhardt on Fox & Friends, referring to the two assassination attempts: one on July 13 during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and a second, foiled one on Sept. 15 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“Especially that we hear the leaders from the opposition party and mainstream media branding him as a threat to democracy, calling him vile names,” Melania continued.
“They’re only fueling a toxic atmosphere and giving power to all of these people that want to do harm to him,” she added.
Melania also revealed that she could not immediately communicate with the tycoon after the attack. “First, the Secret Service was not available too, because they were with him, right?” she said. “And then after that, I got the Secret Service on the phone, and they said that he’s okay. ‘We are in on the way to the hospital.’”
Later, Trump would then call his wife and son Barron, to reassure them. The woman then praised her spouse’s strength and said that his combative attitude, validated by his words, “Fight, fight, fight,” immediately after the attack, was a sign of his determination.
After the second assassination attempt, which occurred while the former president was playing golf at Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, “The Donald” tried to blame Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden.

According to Trump, the suspected would-be assassin, Ryan Routh, was influenced by the rhetoric of the two politicians. “He [Routh] believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it,” the mogul told Fox News the next day.
“Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country — both from the inside and out.”
Melania also echoed the words spoken by Trump, crediting divine intervention for protecting him during the two incidents, calling them “miracles.”
When asked if she believed it was “like God spared his life,” the former first lady asserted, “Yes. I think something was watching over him.”
She further added, “July 13 was really a miracle. The bullet came that close,” and indicated with her fingers the shortest distance to his head. “I think something was watching over him,” she said. “It’s almost like [the] country really needs him.”
In the same interview, Melania also named some of Donald Trump’s personal traits that might convince his opponents to become supporters of the MAGA movement:
“He’s really a family man. He loves his family. He loves this country. And all he wants is to build, build better… and prosperous,” she claimed.
