As the dust settles from the latest presidential debate, the spotlight turns to a new poll that offers a candid look at how voters really see Donald Trump. Conducted by YouGov just after the September 10 debate, the survey apparently shows that the word most people use to describe Trump is “rude”- from a hefty 54 percent of respondents.
Exactly half of those surveyed tagged Trump as “old,” a description that sharply contrasts with Kamala Harris, his rival, who only drew this label from a mere one percent.
While 45 percent of respondents called the GOP leader “tough,” a slightly larger 46 percent labeled him as “reckless.” The debate over his character continues with 38 percent describing him as “weird,” a term that has gained traction thanks to its use by Democratic vicepresidential candidate Tim Walz. Meanwhile, Trump was equally dubbed “bold” and “patriotic” by 42 percent of the surveyed group.
Interestingly, only 15 percent of people considered Trump “religious,” a number that still outstrips Harris’s 7 percent, a disparity that might play into broader electoral dynamics given that a Gallup poll revealed 45 percent of Americans view religion as critically important.
The least favored descriptor for Trump? “Cautious.” Just 9 percent of respondents saw him through this lens. Even though 55 percent of participants deemed Harris the debate’s winner, Trump’s perceived strengths in policy areas such as the economy, crime, and national defense still resonate strongly with voters. This is particularly pertinent as inflation remains a top concern, with 65 percent of voters considering it a “very big problem,” according to a recent Pew Research poll.
