It’s no secret that Trump thinks of himself as Superman saving America. Now he wants the world to know that his entire campaign team are superheroes too. A photoshopped picture shared by the former president to social media on Thursday presents him as the head of DC’s Justice League, with his running mate, and other political allies of his also depicted in the image as well-known superheroes.
The photo, which was posted to Trump’s Truth Social account, shows the former president as Superman; his running mate, JD Vance, as Batman; former presidential candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, as the Flash; former U.S. congressional representative, Tulsi Gabbard as Wonder Woman; billionaire Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX who owns X (formerly Twitter), as the part-human/part-robot Cyborg; and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who recently dropped his independent presidential campaign and endorsed Trump, as Aquaman.
Earlier this week, the Trump 2024 campaign announced the addition of RFK Jr. and Gabbard to its transition team.
Trump has previously presented himself as a superhero in other contexts, including late 2022, when he launched a series of trading cards. One of these showed him dressed in a superhero costume (emblazoned with a capital “T”) with lasers shooting out of his eyes.
According to a report by the Daily Beast, the DC superhero meme “originated from an X user who posts mostly about the former president and Indian politics and cinema.”
“Trump and his associates have a long history of trying to compare the real estate magnate-turned-political firebrand to the Man of Steel,” the article read, noting that Trump’s 50th birthday party featured a figure of him depicted as Superman as part of a diorama next to the cake.
