During a Memorial Day visit to Israel, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley autographed Israeli artillery rounds with the messages “Finish Them!” and “America loves Israel”.
The former governor of South Carolina made her bold show for encouragement when visiting Israel’s northern border with Lebanon. She was joined by Danny Danon, a former Israeli ambassador to the UN and a well-known hardline member of Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party in the Knesset.
Speaking to reporters, Haley showed no remorse as she attacked the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is trying to get Netanyahu arrested, and the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which is investigating allegations of genocide against Israel. She also criticized Joe Biden’s administration for temporarily halting arms in order to prevent an Israeli attack on the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
“What America needs to understand is that if Israel’s fighting our enemies, how can we not help them?,” said Haley. “The sure way to not help Israel is to withhold weapons. The sure way to not help Israel is to praise the ICC, the ICJ or any of those that are condemning Israel instead of condemning what happens.”
“America needs to do whatever Israel needs and stop telling them how to fight this war. You are either a friend or not a friend,” she added.
On his X account, Danon proudly documented Haley’s outpouring of solidarity, which included a visit to southern Israel to meet with survivors of Hamas’s October 7 onslaught, which claimed the lives of over 1,200 people and kidnapped another 253.
Her shell-signing photo-op took place during Israel’s deadly military incursion in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of over 36,000 Palestinians, with an estimated 15,000 of them being children. Haley made no mention of these deaths and no distinctions between striking terrorists and innocent civilians in her remarks.
