A 2016 surveillance video obtained exclusively by CNN appears to show Sean “Diddy” Combs violently assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. This footage aligns with allegations Ventura made in a now-settled federal lawsuit filed in November, bringing to light a harrowing incident that raises serious concerns about the music mogul’s behavior.
The video, dated March 5, 2016, and compiled from multiple camera angles, reportedly captures a scene at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. Ventura is seen walking to a bank of elevators when Combs, clad only in a towel, runs after her, grabs her by the back of the neck, and throws her to the ground. He proceeds to kick her twice while she lies motionless, drag her by her sweatshirt, and shove her before hurling an object in her direction.
Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, commented on the footage, stating, “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
The violent altercation is consistent with details from Ventura’s lawsuit, which described an intoxicated Combs punching her in the face, following her into the hallway, and throwing glass vases at her. Ventura reportedly attempted to leave the hotel, but returned, fearing further anger from Combs and feeling trapped in a cycle of abuse.
Combs has repeatedly denied Ventura’s allegations, calling them “offensive and outrageous.” His attorney, Ben Brafman, stated, “Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations. A decision to settle a lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing.”
This newly surfaced video has ignited widespread outrage. Model and actress Emily Ratajkowski labeled Combs a “monster,” while Cassie’s husband, Alex Fine, shared a heartfelt message emphasizing that “Men who hit women aren’t men.” He added, “You’re done, you’re not safe anymore, you’re not protected anymore.”
The incident is part of a larger pattern of accusations against Combs. Since November, five other civil lawsuits have been filed against him, alleging various forms of sexual misconduct. Authorities have searched his homes in California and Florida as part of a federal investigation into human trafficking crimes. Combs has dismissed these allegations as a “witch hunt,” asserting his innocence and pledging to clear his name.
Combs’ long-time rival, 50 Cent, sarcastically remarked on the situation, referencing the video and past statements from Combs denying the allegations. “Now I’m sure Puffy didn’t do it, he is innocent this proves nothing! This is what his lawyers are gonna say, God help us all,” he tweeted.
