A man who was fatally shot outside of a Houston McDonald’s during the weekend while intervening in a dispute between a customer and employees has been identified by his family.
Jeffrey Limmer, 46, an attorney and resident of Houston, stepped in while a customer was arguing with McDonald’s employees Saturday evening because he wanted a refund on his order.He tried to calm the man down, according to police.
Limmer was an associate at the Houston office of the Lewis Brisbois law firm. According to his biography on the company’s website, he attended the University of Southern Texas at Austin and the South Texas College of Law.
After he stepped in, the customer reportedly redirected his attention to Limmer and they went outside where there was a verbal disagreement between them, resulting in Limmer pushing the customer down. The customer then went to his car and pulled out a gun before fatally shooting Limmer.
According to paramedics, he was dead at the scene.
Officers with the Houston Police Department responded to the scene of the shooting at 8147 Katy Freeway at around 6 p.m. on Saturday. Authorities have not yet released the footage of the incident.
The HPD reported that the gunman fled the area in an early 2000s blue Ford pickup.
