Following the news of King Charles’ III’s cancer diagnosis, which was publicly announced on Monday in a Buckingham Palace statement, his son Prince Harry was seen arriving in London after reportedly catching an urgent flight out of Los Angeles.
Charles’ diagnosis comes less than a year after his coronation. He was also just treated for an enlarged prostate, however, the type of cancer is reportedly unrelated to this health issue.
Just after 2 p.m. local time on Monday, a convoy believed to be carrying the Duke of Sussex, 39, was spotted at London’s Heathrow Airport.
The previous evening, a luxury Range Rover suspected to belong to Harry’s security team was seen arriving at LAX’s VIP terminal as the self-renounced royal headed to Great Britain to be by his father’s side.
Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, was not seen with him and is reportedly staying put in Montecito, California, with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The father of two now reportedly travels with his own security team, after his father stripped the Sussexes of their claim to tax-funded police protection when they left the royal family in 2020. The duke has been trying to win back UK security protection for his family ever since.
“Harry will be worried about Charles, which is why I think he’s coming back to the UK to show support,” Grant Harrold, who worked for King Charles for seven years when he was the Prince of Wales, reported.
It is not known where Prince Harry will be staying during his time in the UK, given the fact that he longer has an official royal residence.
In the midst of this health scare, the royal family is still dealing with the ailment of Kate Middleton, who is still recovering from the abdominal surgery that she had last month.
The Princess of Wales will reportedly not be carrying out any royal engagements until Easter.
Prince William, however, announced his return to public engagements, revealing that as of Wednesday, he will be taking over, as both his father and wife are absent from duties for the time being.
