King Charles was treated today in London for an enlarged prostate after being admitted to the private London Clinic on Friday morning. He is expected to spend at least one night at the hospital but word is that the King is “doing well”.
Kate, Princess of Wales, had abdominal surgery last week at the same London Clinic for an unspecified ailment. The King visited his daughter-in-law on Friday morning, ahead of his own treatment.
Later, Queen Camilla was seen leaving the clinic in Marylebone in central London. She said to reporters, “He’s doing well, thank you.”
News from Buckingham Palace says that King Charles, 75, was “delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness”; apparently he decided to make his health problem public to encourage other men to get a prostate check. According to the BBC, the National Health System website was hit with a surge of searches about prostates.
Another reason for Charles’s announcement may have been to divert attention from the plight of Kate, expected to be hospitalized for at least ten more days and in recovery at home for at least a month. Faithful royalists wonder what exactly is wrong with William’s wife that may require such a long convalescence.
