Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped his Republican presidential campaign Sunday just before Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary and supported Donald Trump, bringing an end to a White House run that failed to fulfill expectations of emerging as a strong opponent to the former president.
“It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,” he said in a video posted on X.

His choice is a stunning collapse for a politician who was formerly thought to have the best chance of unseating Donald J. Trump as the Republican Party’s nominee in 2024 but lost badly to Mr. Trump by thirty percentage points last Monday in the Iowa caucuses.
After his campaign stop in South Carolina, DeSantis took a late Saturday flight back to Tallahassee. He was supposed to show up on Sunday afternoon at a campaign event in New Hampshire, but according to a person with knowledge of the situation, that was no longer the case.
