This past Thursday, Mayor Eric Adams and other city leaders cut the ribbon on the newly named Bally’s Links at Ferry Point in the Bronx.
The new name of the golf club is the official replacement of what used to be a popular golf course owned and self-named by Donald Trump.
At the ribbon cutting ceremony, Adams called the opening the start of “a new era,” and also stressed the importance of Bally’s Links being in view when drivers cross the Whitestone Bridge.
“Really, hats off to Bally’s. How many times have we crossed this bridge and looked down and saw the greatness of what this golf course could be if someone just had the eyes and the vision to do so,” he said at the ceremony.
Bally’s Corporation took over operation of the course this past September and has signed a 20-year lease with the city.
As of October, Bally’s also launched a free shuttle service to the golf course for all Bronx residents in order to encourage activity from the local communities.
At a press conference that preceded the ribbon cutting, Deputy Borough President Janet Peguero expressed the significance of this new business in the area, “This is another step in making the Bronx become a global destination and it shows that Bally’s is prioritizing the community,” she stated at the conference. Peguero also commended Bally’s for creating a shuttle service in the East Bronx area where there is a lack of public transit.
Assemblyman Michael Benedetto also conveyed his faith in the new golf course, claiming, “Bally’s has already had a positive impact on this community and is committed to providing opportunities for economic growth and job creation… They have shown through concrete actions that they are a community partner you can count on.”
The chairman of the Bally’s Corporation, Soo Kim, emphasized the company’s “significant commitment to the Bronx” at the conference and shared that one of his main goals as a Bally’s chairman is to bring more people from the rest of the Bronx and the city to enjoy the golf and fine dining offered at the venue.
“The rebranding and shuttle service mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our mutually beneficial partnership with the Throggs Neck community and the Bronx for years to come,” he added.
”Today is about more than just a name changing- it is about the future of the Throggs Neck community and the Bronx as a whole,” Vanessa Gibson, the Bronx Borough President, stressed at the ceremony. “We are excited to build on this relationship in pursuit of a better Bronx.”
The Bally’s Golf Links at Ferry Point is an 18-hole, 180-acre golf course along with a 20,000 square-foot clubhouse with a restaurant and bar. Additionally, the golf rates will be discounted for New York City residents.
