Documents related to an Epstein court case were released late Wednesday night, leading to a media and public frenzy over an alleged “client list”. While people were hoping for the exposition of a global celebrity sex crime ring, the reality of the situation is much less exciting, as frequently happens in clamorous cases.
The documents released on Wednesday relate to one specific case brought forward by Virginia Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell. Guiffre was only 17 when she was recruited and trafficked by Maxwell and Epstein.
Giuffre’s suit alleges that she was forced to have sex with a handful of high-profile individuals who were part of Epstein’s circle. She singles out Britain’s Prince Andrew, the former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, former U.S. Sen. George Mitchell, and the billionaire Glenn Dubin.
Both former Presidents Clinton and Trump are mentioned a half-dozen times in the court documents but in no connection to any illegal activities or sex crimes.
Johanna Sjoberg, another one of Maxwell and Epstein’s victims, said that he once spoke about Clinton in her presence, “He said one time that Clinton likes them young, referring to girls,” the deposition reads.
Donald Trump is mentioned by Giuffre when she stated that she never saw the former President on Epstein’s plane or on his private island. While individuals in the Trump camp (primarily Don Jr.) are quick to use this as evidence of exoneration, it’s important to remember that Epstein and Maxwell exploited hundreds of young women for sex both domestically and abroad at Little St. James; the fact that one of their victims does not recall seeing the former President does little to exonerate him from his relationship with the convicted pedophile, outside of any potential affiliation with Giuffre.
Trump’s sordid sex life has been the subject of tabloids and respectable media sources for decades. He famously organized hush money payments to porn-actress Stormy Daniels to cover up their affair before the 2016 election, he is also alleged to have engaged in copious entanglements with prostitutes abroad (including rumors of participating in “golden showers”) and has publicly stated (on video) that if Ivanka was not his daughter he’d likely be dating her.
When it comes to sex scandals and extramarital affairs Clinton has countless skeletons in his closet, and many outside. He shocked the world when he finally admitted to having sexual relations with intern Monica Lewinsky in the Oval Office (after denying it vehemently to the nation), he is rumored to have countless affairs with other women in his home state of Arkansas–some of whom, like Paula Jones, sued him— and he and Hillary have been accused of extremely aggressive measures in their attempts to silence these women.
While they may have no connection to Giuffre or Sjoberg, both former Presidents have their fair share of sex scandals that have been featured in the media and are notorious for leading sleazy sex lives;. It’s not too much of a stretch to imagine that some stories have remained hidden and that there will be a connection established with Trump and Epstein or Clinton and Epstein down the road.
