A second American prisoner detained by Hamas in the Gaza Strip reportedly died.
Judith Weinstein Haggai was slain on October 7 by Hamas, and her body is still unclaimed somewhere in Gaza, according to a spokesman for the Kibbutz Nir Oz on Thursday.
The 70-year-old woman had two sons and two daughters, as well as seven grandchildren. She worked as a special needs teacher on the kibbutz and also taught English. Local Israeli media said that she was committed to working for fraternity and peace.
Gadi Hagai, her 72-year-old husband, was also reportedly killed in the Oct. 7 carnage, and his corpse is believed to be still in Gaza.
Early on October 7, the couple was out for their daily stroll when the carnage broke out. 60% of the tiny enclave’s population is thought to have been killed or kidnapped in the raids.
The six other Americans whom Hamas has taken captive include Omer Neutra (age 21), Itay Chen (age 19), Sagui Dekel-Chen (age 35), Edan Alexander (age 19), Hersh Goldberg Polin (age 35), and Keith Samuel Siegel.
