In a Christmas message to his followers, former President Donald Trump expressed strong disapproval of what he termed “Electric Car Lunacy,” stating his desire for its supporters to face severe consequences.
Trump’s Truth Social post, made on Monday afternoon, continued a theme he had been developing since Christmas Eve, where he criticized Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith, currently prosecuting two criminal cases against him.
As the frontrunner in the 2024 presidential race for the Republican Party nomination, Trump also directed criticism towards what he referred to as “THUGS,” asserting they were more “evil” and “sick” than world leaders. In a grammatically confusing post, he appeared to take aim at Israel, grouping it with Iran, as well as both Russia and Ukraine.
Trump’s post read, “Included also are World Leaders, both good and bad, but none of which are as evil and ‘sick’ as the THUGS we have inside our Country who, with their Open Borders, INFLATION, Afghanistan Surrender, Green New Scam, High Taxes, No Energy Independence, Woke Military, Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Iran, All Electric Car Lunacy, and so much more, are looking to destroy our once great USA.” He concluded the post with a strong statement: “MAY THEY ROT IN HELL.”
“AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!” Trump added.
The criticism of electric vehicles is a relatively recent grievance for Trump, who had previously labeled them a “hoax” in September, and criticized President Joe Biden’s tax credits for electric cars and trucks as a “transition to hell.”
In addition to his political statements, Trump posted a video featuring his cameo in “Home Alone 2” and a meme asserting “SANTA VOTED TRUMP,” accompanied by a note of irony highlighting that Santa Claus is not a U.S. citizen, making any vote from him illegal.
Contrasting sharply with Trump’s message, President Biden, likely to secure the Democratic party presidential nomination in 2024 with little competition, adopted a different tone in his Christmas message. He shared a video showcasing the White House’s holiday decorations, overlaid with an audio track of him and First Lady Jill Biden reading the poem “The Night Before Christmas” by Clement Clark Moore.
