More than 170 people with alleged links to Jeffrey Epstein are set to be brought up in court documents to be revealed in the upcoming weeks. These unnamed people include victims, and ex-employees of his.
On Monday, a Manhattan federal judge, Loretta Preska, ordered the release of the long-sealed documents in a since-settled defamation lawsuit issued by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who is an alleged victim of Epstein. Roberts brought the lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s partner and charged accomplice, back in 2015.
The litigation was settled in 2017 for an undisclosed amount of money, though Maxwell never admitted to being a co-conspirator of Epstein.
Under Preska’s ruling, dozens of individuals who have previously been referred to anonymously, will be identified publicly when the information and materials tied to them are “unsealed in full.” She has given the individuals 14 days to appeal her decision.
Although Monday’s ruling doesn’t claim anyone specific, it does allude to multiple people as being “public figures.”
The ruling also references past news articles where Epstein employees spoke out against the abuse– including Cathy and Miles Alexander, a couple who ran Epstein’s private Caribbean island, Little St. James, between 1999 and 2007.
One of the identifiable victims is Teala Davies, who spoke out about being repeatedly raped and molested as a teen by Epstein at his homes in New York, Florida, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Paris. Another is Courtney Wild, who claimed Epstein began sexually abusing her when she was 14 years old and started speaking out in efforts to revive her 2008 lawsuit against Epstein– where she was unnamed. The case allegedly planned to throw out a non-prosecution agreement protecting Epstein’s co-conspirators from criminal charges.
A handful of names will remain anonymous when the court filings are released, following the judge’s ruling that they are alleged victims of underage sexual abuse who have not chosen to speak out publicly.
There is also some speculation that the documents will include Prince Andrew’s name, as he is one of the many high-profile figures who have been accused of participating in criminal activity with Epstein. In an allegation raised by Roberts, Prince Andrew was accused of having sex with and co-trafficking an underage girl.
The court filings are expected to be released on January 1, 2024.
