Melania Trump is allegedly pressuring her husband to select Tucker Carlson as his running mate for 2024 after securing the Republican nomination for president.
According to Axios, the 45th First Lady thinks the former Fox News host would be a “powerful onstage extension” of her husband, the former president Donald Trump.
However, the former president’s staff and those close to him apparently worry that Carlson would “outshine” Trump and that the talk show host “can’t be controlled,” even if Carlson is Melania’s favorite candidate, according to Axios.
A Trump campaign insider refuted Axios’ allegation and told the New York Post that the president isn’t considering anything other than the GOP primary contests.
“The Axios story is pure fiction,” the aide said. “Unless there is a formal announcement from President Trump or his campaign team, then it’s just speculation and not coming from us. President Trump is solely focused on winning the Republican nomination and then defeating Crooked Joe Biden in the general election.”
Sen. J. D. Vance (R-Ohio), Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, Reps. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), and other candidates are among the competitors that Trump, 77, is reportedly considering for the No. 2 position.
The report also stated that Jared Kushner, Steve Bannon, John McEntee, Jeffrey Clark (one of Trump’s co-defendants in the Georgia 2020 election interference case), Ric Grenell, John Ratcliffe, and Stephen Miller, former Trump administration officials, are being considered for important White House and Cabinet positions.
