Maryanne Trump Barry, the older sister of former President Donald Trump and a former federal judge, has died at the age of 86, according to reports.
According to ABC News, she was found in her Fifth Avenue apartment at around four in the morning. There were no indications of trauma or malevolence. The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City.
The sources added that emergency personnel attended to a call of a person experiencing cardiac arrest.
Up to her retirement in 2019, Barry served as a senior judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. In 1983, then-President Ronald Reagan appointed her to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. In 1999, then-President Bill Clinton nominated her to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Barry retired in the midst of a probe into possible judicial misconduct over her father’s and siblings’ purportedly illicit financial and tax activities. Barry left the probe open after his retirement in February 2019.
