There has been a lot of speculation about whether Michelle Obama, the former first lady of the United States, will run for president in 2024.
Rumors are growing suggesting that as Joe Biden’s poll numbers drop, the Democratic party will have to replace him as the nominee. Former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin added to the rumors on Monday when she asserted that Michelle Obama will be the Democrats’ 2024 nominee.
Some sources claim that the former first lady has been approached by influential Democrats who see her as a strong candidate, while others suggest that she has no interest in politics and prefers to focus on her social and humanitarian work. Michelle Obama herself has not confirmed or denied these rumors but has stated that she is proud of her husband’s legacy and wants to continue supporting him and their family.
Responding to a series of 2024 election conspiracy theories in which Biden could be removed from office, the former Alaska governor wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Don’t be surprised. But I still say it’ll be Michelle O’ #2024Election. Biden’s out.”

Obama has repeatedly said on the record she does not want to run for president, which has done little to quell such suggestions. The Hill reached out to her spokesperson for further comment.
Last week, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) argued Democrats could “parachute” her in as the nominee if Biden drops out.
President Biden, who had been repeatedly criticized for his age, is now facing increasing resistance also on other issues such as the economy, immigration, and above all, since the start of the Israel-Hamas war that started on October 7, his staunch support for Israel. As the pro-Palestinian cause has gained traction, the President’s approval numbers have dropped steadily.
When faced with questions on the president’s age, the campaign and the White House have often argued people should judge him on his ability to perform the job, but with the addition of other issues, the challenge of defending his age becomes more precarious.
Biden’s disapproval rating hit the highest mark of his presidency in a NBC News poll released Sunday, November 5, and there are lingering concerns among Democrats about his viability in a general election.
Polling in recent weeks show Biden is in a virtual dead heat with former President Trump, who has maintained his position as front-runner in the GOP primary.
