Mark Zuckerberg, the 39-year-old co-founder of Facebook, took to Instagram on Saturday to post a series of images of himself from his hospital bed, where he recently had surgery. The latter was performed to repair his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, which is located in the center of his knee and runs diagonally.
“Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it. Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me. I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that’s delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover,” Zuckerberg wrote.
In one of the pictures, he was seen pumping his fist on his hospital bed, while in another, his wife Priscilla Chan was seen tending to him and wiping his forehead. “Thanks to everyone for the love and support,” Zuckerberg said at the end of his message.
Zuckerberg’s injury comes only days after Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast that Zuckerberg had pulled out of the much-anticipated cage battle between the two. “He’s chickened out. Puck, puck, puck,” Musk said, mimicking a chicken, while also stating that Italy “was willing to let us use the Coliseum” for their proposed fight.
