Renowned actor Sir Michael Gambon has passed away peacefully in a hospital at the age of 82, as confirmed by his family. He is most celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore in several of the Harry Potter films.
Sir Michael embarked on his illustrious acting journey over six decades ago and was among the founding members of the esteemed Royal National Theatre, sharing the stage with the legendary Laurence Olivier.
Additionally, he is fondly remembered for his role as the French detective Jules Maigret in the ITV series “Maigret” and for his starring role in the BBC series “The Singing Detective.”
In an official statement released on behalf of Lady Gambon and their son Fergus Gambon, it was expressed: “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Sir Michael Gambon. A beloved husband and father, Michael peacefully departed in a hospital, with his wife Anne and son Fergus by his side, following a battle with pneumonia.”
