The Coccia Institute for the Italian Experience in America is thrilled to collaborate with Watchung Booksellers in presenting Kelsey James, author of The Woman in the Castello and Christina Lynch, author of Sally Brady’s Italian Adventure.
The Woman in the Castello: Rome, 1965: In this gothic thriller, aspiring actress Silvia Whitford arrives at Rome’s famed Cinecittà Studios from Los Angeles, ready for her big break and a taste of la dolce vita. Instead, she learns that the movie in which she was cast has been canceled. Desperate for money, Silvia has only one choice: seek out the Italian aunt she has never met, who lives in a crumbling castello on the edge of a volcanic lake.
Sally Brady’s Italian Adventure: What if you found yourself in the middle of a war armed only with lipstick and a sense of humor? Abandoned as a child in Los Angeles in 1931, dust bowl refugee Sally Brady convinces a Hollywood movie star to adopt her, and grows up to be an effervescent gossip columnist secretly satirizing Europe’s upper crust. By 1940 saucy Sally is conquering Fascist-era Rome with cheek and charm.
Join us Wednesday, July 26th at 7pm at Watchung Booksellers (54 Fairfield Street in Montclair) as we escape to Italy followed by an exclusive Q&A session with both authors and book signings! Moderated by Coccia Advisory Board Chair and Editorial Director at mineditionUS, Maria Russo.
