Robert De Niro, the legendary actor, spoke with ET Canada about fatherhood during an interview about his upcoming movie “About My Father.”
When asked about his love language, De Niro, 79, stated that he believes in being loving with his children while also being stern when necessary. He stated that while he does not like having to discipline his children, it is sometimes necessary. He believes that any parent would say the same thing because they always want to do the right thing by their children, but sometimes they cannot.
When the interviewer referred to De Niro as having six kids, he corrected her, revealing that he actually has seven. He did not disclose the identity of the mother. Despite Sebastian Maniscalo, who portrays De Niro’s son in the film, calling his character a cool dad, De Niro does not see himself that way. He stated that his children sometimes disagree with him but are always respectful.
De Niro has been married twice and has children from both marriages. He has two children, Drena and Raphael, with his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, and two children, Elliot and Helen, with his ex-wife, Grace Hightower. Additionally, he has twin sons, Aaron and Julian, with former girlfriend Toukie Smith.
De Niro’s interview provides a glimpse into his personal life and his perspective on fatherhood. While he strives to be loving with his children, he acknowledges the importance of discipline when necessary. Despite being a well-known actor, De Niro sees himself as a regular dad who sometimes disagrees with his children but always loves and adores them.
