If the subject wasn’t so serious, we’d be justified in thinking it’s a joke.
After recent incidents involving alligators who were where they shouldn’t be, like at someone’s front door, or alligators behaving badly, as when one killed a woman walking her dog near a pond, now a Volusia County homeowner was shocked to find a 12-foot alligator in their swimming pool on Wednesday.
The homeowner, Lynn Tosi, shared videos of the gator in the pool, which was found around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Deltona.
According to Tosi, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded to the home and removed the gator, about 11 feet and five inches long, from the pool.
We have to wonder if these incidents are actually becoming more frequent or if they’re just attracting more attention and therefore, making the news. For now, there is no answer to that question. The spate of incidents has led reporters at a Florida television station to ask if alligators are out of control.
Thankfully, no one was injured in this case, as happened in the previous two.
