Justin Bieber has sold the music rights to his song catalog for $200 million.
The pop star signed with Hipgnosis Songs Capital, backed by Blackstone, and marks yet another acquisition of a successful music catalog, as has been the case with other artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.
The deal was announced by Hipgnosis today (but without revealing details of the sale anticipated by the Wsj), and covers Bieber’s entire catalog before Dec. 31, 2021 amounting to 290 published songs. With the deal finalized, Hipgnosis gets Bieber’s share of the rights to some of his biggest hits, including “Baby,” “What Do You Mean,” “Sorry,” and “Love Yourself.”
With more than 150 million records sold, Bieber is one of the best-selling recording artists of all time.
