An Israeli woman was stabbed multiple times Sunday at Rome Termini railway station in the city’s heart while attempting to purchase a ticket to the airport for her journey back to Tel Aviv.
The attack appeared to be the result of an attempted robbery, but religious and racist motives have not been ruled out.
Although the Israeli consul who saw her in the hospital indicated her wounds were not life threatening and she was doing well, the media first reported that her status was critical.
Before being stabbed, the woman is shown on CCTV trying to fend off the robbery whereas the attacker escapes in the direction of Via Giolitti. The event is the subject of an inquiry by the local police, who are attempting to determine the events and reasons behind the occurrence
