A colorful statue of liberty, but this one with Vladimir Putin’s face and holding a gun aloft instead of a torch. The installation appeared in Milan in Largo La Foppa, in the Moscova area.
The work, which bears the signature of pop artist Dicò, has the words “it always seems impossible until it’s done” on the book held by the personification of liberty.
The statue, fuchsia with splashes of other colors, is a clear reference to the Putin regime in Russia and the possibility that the country may one day overthrow it. “Freedom is not a gun,” the artist wrote on his social media.

The artist Dicò personally showed up at Largo La Foppa and signed the work. Dicò then moved a few steps away from Moscova for the opening of his new temporary gallery on Corso Garibaldi at the corner of Via Palermo.
The gallery is open to the public daily from Dec. 1 to Dec. 31. Opening hours are Sunday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., while Thursday through Saturday closing hours are delayed to 9:30 p.m.
With his debut in Milan, Dicò’s works continue their tour of the world, from the heart of Rome via Miami and Dubai, to being featured inside the homes and private collections of many Hollywood stars. In recent years, Enrico Dicò has become an international pop art sensation with his unique combustion technique, which has earned him the name “The Fire Artist” overseas.
