Four Italian graffiti artists were detained in Ahmedabad on Tuesday for reportedly spray-painting two metro train compartments with graffiti.
Gianluca Cudini, 24, from Tortoreto; Baldo Sacha, 29, from Monte San Vito; Daniele Stranieri, 21, from Spoltore, and Paolo Capecci, 27, from Grottammare, have been identified as the four individuals.
They reportedly spray-painted the graffiti on Saturday night, hours before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened a new metro line in Gujarat’s capital.
Baldo’s family said that they were in touch with the Italian embassy in India through Monte San Vito Mayor Thomas Cillo, who had provided guarantees on the reasonable treatment of the four young men.
The four were being tried for two different offenses, according to Cillo, therefore one trial was already underway and another was most likely to follow.
