A man was found dead and another seriously injured after a violent altercation on the Upper East Side on Sunday, according to NYPD. Officers responded to a call about an assault at 232 East 95th St. around 1:30 p.m., discovering a bloody scene.
The deceased, whose identity remains unknown, had sustained severe trauma to his chest and neck and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 27-year-old man, also unidentified, was found with lacerations across his body and taken to New York Cornell Medical Hospital in serious condition.
The surviving man is expected to undergo medical treatment for his injuries, and authorities will likely question him in an effort to better understand the events leading up to the fatal confrontation.
Authorities believe the incident began as an argument that quickly escalated into a stabbing. “We believe the incident escalated quickly, resulting in a stabbing,” a police source said. Two knives were recovered on the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, with police still working to determine what sparked the confrontation and the relationship between the two men.
