A couple in their fifties were reportedly kidnapped and assaulted while searching for a home in Connecticut last weekend, according to authorities.
A group of six men purposefully rear-ended the couple’s Lamborghini sports vehicle on Sunday afternoon in the town of Danbury before shoving them into the back of a van.
The suspects, who are all from Florida, duct-taped their wrists and feet, covered the eyes of the male victim, and beat the pair with a baseball bat. Then, when the others tried to flee with the victims in the van, others of the group drove off in the Lamborghini.
Law enforcement was notified by a witness who pursued the vehicle until it lost control and crashed. The abducted couple was subsequently released after police managed to arrest the four individuals inside the van. Afterwards, the other two males were taken into custody.
Angel Borrero, 23, Reynaldo Diaz, 22, Anthony Pena, 23, Josue Romero, 26, Ricardo Estrada, 21, and Michael Rivas, 18, were the suspects listed as being detained.
The two victims were rushed to the hospital, according to police, and are now recovering from non-life-threatening wounds.
Charges for first-degree assault, first-degree abduction, and reckless endangerment have been brought against all six accused. The motivation is still unknown, but attempted robbery is suspected.
