In a developing story Nassau County police report that five bodies were discovered at a Syosset home on Sunday, when officers responded to the home at 76 Wyoming Court, off the Syosset-Cold Spring Road, around 12 p.m.
The department said police found a man outside the home, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Four victims were shot and killed inside the home, police said. The gunman then walked outside to the front lawn and shot and killed himself.
Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder told Newsday that the deaths appeared to be a murder-suicide.
“We do know that the subject on the front lawn did shoot and kill himself,” Ryder told the outlet.
As first reported by Newsday, the home appeared to be the address of Theresa Martha DeLucia, the 95-year-old matriarch of the family who died Aug. 19. The Syosset woman had been interred at Calverton National Cemetery on Friday. It appears that the family were arguing over the reading of the will.
At present there are very few details available. The investigation is ongoing.
