An individual was thrown in a shopping cart and burned along a Westchester County bridge early Monday, according to local officials.
First responders were sent to the Oak Street Bridge area, which is on the boundary of Yonkers and Mount Vernon, at approximately two in the morning on Monday in response to a reported fire.
After the fire was put out, a dead corpse was found on the sidewalk by police and fire personnel. Officers from Yonkers responded to the scene and found that the body had been dismembered, put in a shopping cart and set on fire.
The body’s identification was delayed because the victim’s hands and teeth were broken off. Police executed a search warrant at 903 Rogers Place in the Bronx on Monday night and found severed hands and feet, whereas the apartment’s kitchen was where the body pieces were discovered. The individual’s head, torso, legs, and remaining portion of body were found in a Yonkers shopping cart.
The Bronx apartment’s bedroom contained a pistol and drugs. The Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office and Yonkers police investigators are working together to ascertain the cause of death and whether the victim sustained any other injuries.
