A man reportedly stabbed his mother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew to death inside a Brooklyn apartment Friday night, according to the NYPD.
One of the inhabitants of a Bensonhurst home arrived to find his brother with blood on his hands, and his mother, wife, and two children dead, police sources said. Responding officers arrived around 10:18 p.m. to the building on Avenue P and West 8th Street, officers reported.
A resident who lives down the block on Ave P told a La Voce di New York reporter that she had been walking home around 10:15 p.m. last night when she noticed a man walking beside her acting a little strangely. “I was walking up the block and he was in front of me, then I saw him go up to the cops and say, ‘I just killed my mom.'” The neighbor has requested to remain anonymous.
Officers then arrested the 24-year-old man in connection to the incident, sources said. Investigators believe that the stabbing was due to a domestic dispute, police sources said.
Those discovered by police were a 56-year-old woman, later identified as Fayzieva Mavlyuda, who was stabbed multiple times in the neck, authorities said. Two children, Timur Shavkatov, 4, and Kamila Shavkatova, 5, and a 27-year-old woman, later identified as Maftuna Khakimova, were also found with several stab wounds, police said. First responders arrived at the home and pronounced all of the victims dead, officers reported.
The family is originally from Uzbekistan, but has lived in the apartment for about 10 years, sources said.
The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
