A Manhattan mother was killed Sunday afternoon after her son reportedly threw her down an embankment in Riverside Park, according to cops and law enforcement sources.
At 4:15 p.m., Vianel Garcia, 44, and her 22-year-old son Miguel Duval got into a fight, during which the young man reportedly shoved her close to Riverside Drive and West 165th Street, according to witnesses and police.
Garcia, a Harlem resident, fell down the grassy hill and sustained serious injuries, according to the authorities. The NYPD reported that she was taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was later declared dead.
Duval was detained at the scene and then charged with second-degree murder, according to the police. His address matched a men’s shelter in Washington Heights.
