New York Attorney General Letitia James stated on Friday that the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) would provide an Election Protection Hotline for the forthcoming June 25, 2024, primary election, as well as during early voting from June 15 to June 23.
“Access to the ballot box is the foundational right of our democracy,” said James in a statement. “Our election protection hotline will be available to address challenges voters face and provide helpful guidance, regardless of whether they choose to vote early, by mail, or on election day.”
Voters can contact the hotline with any problems they may be having with early mail ballots, absentee ballots, or in-person voting at polling stations.
They can also submit an online help request at the OAG website or call the hotline at (866) 390-2992. On Election Day, the hotline will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during early voting. In addition, an hotline for post-election support will be available on June 26 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Since 2012, the OAG has been handling complaints through its Election Protection Hotline and collaborating with local authorities to resolve difficulties. Both state and federal laws shield New Yorkers against voting harassment and hindrance. Every voter who is registered has the right to vote in accessible elections without being threatened or coerced.
