A 12-year-old girl was injured after two people opened fire on a gathering of almost a dozen children who were arguing on a Queens sidewalk, according to police and sources.
Officers were dispatched to the scene in Jamaica just before 8 p.m., after a group of around ten children got into a fight on 160th Street near Tuskegee Airmen Way. According to the authorities, two men approached the gathering and opened fire while the quarrell was happening.
After being shot in the left arm, the 12-year-old girl was brought to the hospital and is currently recovering. Two other victims were hurt. An 18-year-old was rushed to the hospital with head injuries, but police stated she was not thought to have been slashed or cut with a weapon. Cops said that another 26-year-old woman who had been stabbed in the chest was brought to Jamaica Hospital, where she is expected to make a full recovery.
The two masked suspects fled in a vehicle, according to the police. Their affiliation with the targeted gathering was unknown at the time.
The shooting occurred just after a 15-year-old was stabbed on a Queens street near his school, adding to the alarming number of young people who have been victims of crimes in the Big Apple in recent weeks.
