A man from upstate New York allegedly threatened Manhattan Judge Arthur Engoron and state Attorney General Letitia James with “death and physical harm” if they did not dismiss the civil fraud lawsuit against Donald Trump.
Tyler Vogel, 26, of Lancaster, has been charged with a felony for allegedly threatening James and Engoron with terrorist acts in a string of late-night messages on March 24, based on court documents.
The Erie County district attorney’s office stated that Vogel had “confirmed intentions to follow through with the threats were his demands not met” after obtaining private information on James and Engoron through a paid internet background service.
Vogel now faces two counts of aggravated harassment, a misdemeanor, and two counts of making a terroristic threat. The DA also issued a temporary protective order. If found guilty, Vogel may spend up to seven years, according to the office.
The purported threats are the most recent in a string of intimidations directed at authorities investigating Trump’s New York cases throughout the past 12 months. A fake bomb threat had been made against Engoron’s Long Island residence in January, just before the fraud trial’s closing arguments.
On Monday, the former president and Republican White House frontunner posted a $175 million bail which prevented the state from taking his assets to pay the debt while he filed an appeal. The main topic of the trial was how Trump’s assets were evaluated on the financial statements he sent to insurers and bankers in order to obtain deals and loans.
