Four suspects are being sought by police after a 26-year-old man was shot in the head early on Friday morning inside a Midtown Manhattan building housing renowned recording studios and rehearsal facilities.
The NYPD reported that gunfire broke out on the 11th floor of the Music Building on 8th Avenue shortly after 12:40 a.m.; pictures from the scene show the victim, who has not yet been named, being brought out on a stretcher with extensive bandages covering the top of his head.
The victim, who lived in the Bronx, was shot in the head at least once, according to authorities, and was taken in critical condition by EMS to Bellevue Hospital.
Police were searching for four male suspects who escaped on foot and remain at large. A man in his 20s wearing a black Nike sweatshirt was identified as one of them.
World-famous performers and bands, such as Madonna, Billy Idol, and The Strokes, have performed at the Music Building since it opened in 1979. The facility is open 24 hours a day and the public can rent one of the reharsal rooms by the hour.
