Design Holding, a global leader in high-end design, opened a one-of-a-kind destination on Madison Avenue in NYC. The location will serve as its flagship store as it launches a new model for luxury design and high-end household furniture. Their brand, through products and presentation, exudes a singular essence: “A beautiful life”.
Piero Lissoni, the architect and designer behind the space, explained the decision for the location: “We wanted to share the melting pot attitude of New York City, where everyone and everything can blend together holistically.”
Design Holding is a collection of primarily Italian and Nordic brands that join together in a new space led by excellence in design. These brands are B&B Italia, Flos, Louis Paulsen, Maxalto, Arclinea, and Azucena. The group’s CEO, Daniel Lalonde, touches on the partnership in his address, “Our ecosystem of iconic brands excels in innovation, craftsmanship, and design services, catering to diverse needs from residential to bespoke contract projects.”
On the first floor, one enters an expansive, luxurious living room. The space is filled with uniquely designed pieces, yet the couches and tables are laid out methodically, and the space retains a sensation of openness. Rather than a store, it’s more akin to a beautiful home dashed together with an art gallery. The notion is fitting, particularly because a high percentage of Design Holding’s operations are through business-to-business relationships; they work closely with the hospitality industry and high-end residential spaces, architects have essentially a one-stop-shop to find what they might need.

On the second floor, the windows overlooking Madison Avenue open the space to brilliant light, which perfectly contrasts with hundreds of artistic chandeliers, sconces, and pendants. This area is dedicated to the luxury lighting firm Flos, whose products have won numerous awards throughout the design industry. The synergy of space and design is reflected throughout the whole space, with each brand bringing a unique tone to the high-end furniture boutique. Lalonde touches on the intentionality of this vision, “This space offers a captivating experience, showcasing the creativity and excellence that define our heritage.”

The flagship store conveys the essence of the brand to anyone passing or stopping by, it provides a compelling image of their promise: “A beautiful life”.
