On Thursday morning in Babylon, NY, a young girl’s walk to school was morbidly interrupted when she discovered a dismembered arm on the side of the road.
Suffolk County Police stated that the girl spotted the severed left arm along the west side of the road on Siegel Boulevard, between Park and Mason Avenue, near the popular Southards Pond Park in Babylon and called her father, who proceeded to dial 911.
During a subsequent search by police, a cadaver dog found a leg sticking out of a mound of leaves in a wooded area on the western side of the park, near Graham Place between Beverly road and Martin Place, authorities stated.
Even later, the search dog discovered more human remains in the Babylon park, including a right arm approximately 20 feet away from the left arm originally located, and an adult woman’s head.
The body parts found at Southards Pond Park belong to both a woman and an adult male, including a woman’s arm, head, and leg, and a man’s two arms–both had tattoos–according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
Reportedly, the adult male’s arms were found on the eastern side of the park, and the woman’s head, leg, and arm were found on the western side of the park.
Following the search, Village of Babylon officials posted a statement on social media that morning about the investigation: “To all our Babylon Village residents and guests: Please be advised that Southards Park is closed at this time by the Suffolk County Police Department. An investigation is currently going on and upon further information, details will be released. Southards Park is closed until further notice.”
